NOURISHING TEA FOR PREGNANCY

Drink in 2nd & 3rd trimester - 3 cups a day, cold or hot

2 parts Red Raspberry leaves, 1 part Nettle leaves, 1 part Alfalfa

This tea provides so many vitamins and minerals. It feeds the muscles to relieve leg cramps and tone the uterus. making uterine contractions more effective in labor. It nourishes the kidneys helping to avoid hypertension and reduce swelling. It strengthens the blood vessels relieving varicosities. It helps to prevent anemia and postpartum hemorrhage. It provides baby with stores of Vitamin K and increases the milk supply.

Backache:

  • Wear flat shoes
  • Practice pelvic rocks every day
  • Massage
  • Chiropractic care
  • Calcium: Nettle leaf tea, Alfalfa

 

Braxton Hicks Contractions:

  • These are normal in pregnancy and often more noticable in 2nd + pregnancies.
  • Dehydration can exacerbate -drink a couple big glasses of water or juice

Constipation:

  • Eat plenty of high fiber foods
  • Drink plenty of fluids
  • Exercise daily
  • Get adequate rest
  • Prune juice
  • Alfalfa tea or tabs

Dependant Edema:

  • Good diet with plenty of protein and calories
  • Increase fluids
  • Moderate exercise
  • Elevate legs above heart for 15 minutes several times a day
  • Alfalfa tablets - begin with one a day, add one each day until you take two tabs four times a day

Fatigue:

  • Rest when you feel tired
  • Eat frequent small meals
  • This is common in the first and third trimester

Gum Problems:

  • Eat a balanced diet
  • Increase Vitamin C
  • Good dental hygiene

 

Headache:

  • Eat plenty of protein
  • Can signal hunger - Eat
  • Can signal dehydration - Drink
  • If persistant contact care provider

Heartburn remedies:

  • eat papaya cubes
  • chew raw almonds
  • sip yogurt or milk
  • don't eat prior to lying down
